Aviary Now Open

This spring saw an exciting new addition to the Garden Centre. We have had our two pet budgies “Spring” and “Summer”  since November 2009 and they are still entertaining customers in the shop but now they have competition from our outdoor aviary. Situated on the patio it is home to more budgies, zebra finches and a cockatiel called “Billie” donated by customers. We hope to add to our collection over the coming months especially if the current residents breed.

Buzzing Plant Department

There are more than a few reasons to admire the humble bee, whether its for the pollination of our crops, their inexhaustible daily toil or the sweet honey they give us. The bee populations are in trouble. In the UK, Bumblebee numbers have fallen by about 60% since 1970 and the Honeybee numbers are also in decline. You can help to make a difference. Why not try planting Thompson & Morgan Wild Flower Seed Selection Packs or try some of our pre-grown plants from our Plant Department. There is a vast selection of plants that benefit bee’s and other insects.

 To help you choose we have a designated section full of plants that will provide nectar and pollen. It couldn’t be easier!
